Schellman Partners with Canada’s Digital Governance Council to Lead Assessments on New Digital Trust and Identity Standard
Auditing against CAN/DGSI 103-1:2023 builds public trust as digital economy accelerates.
TAMPA, Fla.— May 12, 2023—Schellman, a leading provider of attestation and compliance services, announced today it has partnered with Canada’s Digital Governance Council to evaluate organizations under the Digital Governance Standards Institute’s (DGSI) second edition national standard for digital trust and identity in Canada, CAN/DGSI 103-1:2023, Digital Trust and Identity – Part 1 Fundamentals.
The Standard provides guidance for the design, creation, operation, maintenance, and testing of digital systems in Canada. It outlines the minimum requirements and a set of controls that may be applied to digital systems and services utilized within or applied across identity contexts, such as a credential or an identity federation.
“We see this standard as a key benchmark to assess an organization or governmental institution under baseline requirements for digital identity,” said Scott Perry, Principal at Schellman and leader of the firm’s Crypto and Digital Trust Services. “Operationalizing this standard into an active accreditation program raises accountabilities for all organizations needed to increase customer confidence and control in digital identity systems.”
“We look forward to working closely with Schellman to advance trusted global conformity assessment solutions,” said Keith Jansa, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Governance Council. “We are excited to complement our joint expertise and reach to provide confidence in the responsible design, architecture, and management of digital technologies around the world.”
Schellman has deep expertise in performing audits for Certificate Authorities (internet trust anchors) under the WebTrust Criteria. This experience—along with its leadership in key industry initiatives for certificate authorities, digital credentials, and even drone technology—positions Schellman to best support clients seeking to lead the digital economy.
