If you have been living off of the grid this year you may not have heard that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the EU went into effect in May. As the deadline approached many companies decided they would (or could) simply ignore the directive as their business is based in the US. It was predicted that something would come stateside that may closely resemble the GDPR in regard to privacy, but not many thought it would have been this soon... However, thanks to our friends in the Golden State, The California Consumer Privacy Act was passed this year and is set to go into effect in January of 2020.
